On the morning of 7 December 2017, at Nha Trang, the Association in Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans organized a conferment ceremony of a second-class labour medal (second time) and a meeting to discuss the implementation of 2018 tasks. Present at the two events were Madame Nguyen Thi Xuan My, honourary ASVHO chairman, Mr. Nguyen Duy Bac, Deputy Chairman of the People’s committee of Khanh Hoa Province together with delegates from the ASVHO Central Committee, provincial affiliates. Mr. Phan Luong Cu, Chairman of the Central Committee and two ASVHO Vice Chairpersons, Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam and Ms Ha Thi Lien chaired the events.
During the fourth term (2012-2017) the Association has been able to mobilize 1,862 billion Vietnamese dongs, far exceeding the target of 250 billion Vietnamese dongs set by the 4th Congress. It has helped 6 million handicapped, orphans and poor people improve their life and integrate into the communities. For those activities, the Association was conferred the Second – Class Labour Medal for the second time. It was also awarded the First-Class Labour Medal in 2012 and the Second-Class Labour Medal in 2008 and the Third-Calss Labour Medal in 2003.
At the Meeting, delegates discussed and mapped out major directions for 2018, building upon the positive results obtained in 2017 with a view to becoming a prestigious social organization carrying out nationwide and effective activities to help the handicapped and orphans as well other disadvantaged groups.
